  • A Brief Introduction of the College

    Janjatiya Sandhya Degree Mahavidyalaya, Mihijam, is in the district of Jamtara, established in the year 1983 under the dynamic leadership of then President of the managing committee Sri Sibu Soren, M.P. of Dumka Constituency, is a symbolic representation of the active involvement & dedication of the local public and well wisher Mihijam. People of nearby area for the cause of spreading higher education in and around the locality, specially for the poor and tribal zone. This need which was planted by Sri Suraj Mondal, former M.P. of Godda Constituency, was given shape on 21st August, 1983. In presence of Late Bholanath Ojha, Sri Shyam lal Hembrum, Sri Dulal, Sri G.P Mishra, Laxmi Narayan Jha, Devan Soren(M.L.C) Permanand Mishra, Bengali Saw and other well wishers of the society of Mihijham & Jamtara. Late Bholanath Ojgha then Headmaster, permitted to start the college in Rajkrit Unch Vidyalaya, Mihijam as evening classes. Sri Mangaram Mahatto and his relatives donated land to run the college independently as J.J.S (Degree) College in 1987. Sri Sibu Soren constructed the Pucca Building & boundary wall of the college from his M.P. Fund along with computers, furniture & fixtures. Local People named Parmeshwar Tudu, Motilal Shaw, Late Kushi Ranjan Dutta, Md. Afzal Hussain, Shyam lal Hembrum and others donated bricks, sand, chips, Tiles and Bamboo to construct the college building and also founder Staff members collected funds from door to door of the society and road collection by postering and convincing the guardians. Temporary classrooms were constructed and the college started running in its own building & campus. The college was affiliated to BIEC, Patna in I.Sc., I. Com. & I.A. in 1989 .In the year 1988, due to the initiation of the staff, students and the members of managing Committee Degree class was introduced for three sessions 1988-89 onward from Bhagalpur University via Memo No. 157, Patna dated on 04.04.1992.In the year 2004, Degree was separated from the from the Inter as directed by Government of Jharkhand.Again in 2004 extension of temporary affiliation for 3 sessions since 2004-07.In the year 1997,for next five sessions, B.A.(Pass), all compulsory and optional subjects were given temporary affiliation from S.K.M University void Memo SKMU/G-26-27/97 DATED 9Th January,1997. In the year 2008, college received permanent affiliation for PASS and Hons. of B.Sc. , B.Com & B.A. for the session of 2007-10 onwards vide Memo No. 5/S-1-39/2002 21 RANCHI, dated 7th April,2008. We owe our gratitude to our beloved MLA, Jamtara, Sri Bishnu Prasad Bhaiya for his untiring effort for the all round development of the college. His contribution has therefore a special place in the history of the development of Degree College, in 2011 and building up a new construction for the future generations.

To create an awareness among faculties for their better retention and to take personal care of the students to excel in their career with an expertise in modern technology and social acceptance.

    To provide good infrastructure facility for smooth running of teaching-learning practices. Trained human resources with modern technology to keep themselves up-dated for the future generation. Will allow faculty members to acquire more knowledge through research activities and to conduct more seminars and workshop and give scope to the students to take participation to build their exposure.
